EBN: Get to Know Age-Friendly Employers

Did you know that about 1 in 5 people in Massachusetts work for a nonprofit?

That's about double the US average, but it's also true of many surrounding states. One reason is the number of hospitals, universities, health plans and other businesses that are organized as nonprofits.

Many of these employers are thriving despite the uncertainty of the pandemic. They have a history of hiring and treating older workers well. And they're hiring now. So if you are not including nonprofits in your job search, you may be missing out on some great opportunities.

Join us for our fourth Age-Friendly Employer Panel to meet representatives from four employers, both nonprofit and for-profit. They will describe the types of jobs they have available and why they value people over 50 in their workplaces.

The panel will feature leading employers that are Certified Age-Friendly Employers (CAFE), according to Age-Friendly Institute and have signed the AARP Employer Pledge. Learn more about how these programs can hep you find other age-friendly employers.

This forum will be moderated by Sandra Harris, State President of AARP Massachusetts. She is also Founder and Co-Chair of the Massachusetts Taskforce to End Loneliness and Build Community. She has extensive leadership and work experience in the nonprofit sector, having served on numerous boards and advisory boards, and providing specialized design services to senior living facilities.

These sessions have been attended by hundreds of people over 50 in search of jobs.

They are hosted by Encore Boston Network and brought you in collaboration with AARP Massachusetts, Age Strong and Age-Friendly Boston, Age-Friendly Institute, 50+ Job Seekers of MA, Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs, and Operation ABLE.
