If we identify with youth and deny age, we are unaware of our ageism against ourselves and unknowingly support institutional ageism in our culture. Join three leaders in the field of aging to learn more about ageism, how it happens, what keeps it going and how to bring it to an end.
Dr. Connie Zweig, bestselling author of The Inner Work of Age: Shifting from Role to Soul, shows us how to meet our “inner ageist,” which has profound consequences for our self-acceptance, health, and capacity to discover the treasures of late life.
Ashton Applewhite, through her classic on ageism, This Chair Rocks: A Manifesto Against Ageism, launched a worldwide crusade against ageism and woke up millions of people to the fight for age justice. Together for the first time, Connie and Ashton will explore the inner and outer worlds of ageism — and why both inner work and social activism are needed now, when for the first time in history there are more people over 60 than under 18.
You won’t want to miss this exceptional discussion between two leaders in the field – moderated by a third thought leader, Harry (Rick) Moody, author, lecturer and renowned gerontologist. Offered by Encore Boston Network in partnership with the Encore Network.
If you're a founder of a business or considering entrepreneurship as a career path, join us to learn about four domains that are critical to launching and growing a business: executing, strategic thinking, influencing, and relationship building. You'll be guided by an expert in the Clifton Strengths Methodology to explore how the talents you honed throughout your life, along with an honest look at the activities that bring you joy (and the ones you no longer want to do), can give you deep insight on your leadership style and what to look for in potential collaborators who have complementary strengths. You'll also hear stories from fellow entrepreneurs on how they continuously apply their own strengths to refine their paths and overcome obstacles. Featured speaker: Polly Chandler, Gallup-Certified coach and trainer, and partner with Third Half Advisors. Offered by Founders Over 55.

Celebrating September Intergenerational Month
4th Annual Intergenerational Symposium
Our communities, our institutions, and the world around us are struggling to respond to major challenges. Solutions to environmental, social, educational, health, economic and other issues often seem to elude our well-intended efforts. What if younger and older people joined forces in an intergenerational pact to make change? Younger people are looking ahead to the next decades of life with a sense of urgency about these issues. Older people are looking back at what has and hasn't worked mindful of their legacy. And all generations are rich with untapped ideas and energies. Join us and a panel of community members and educational partners to explore how we might bring generations together to spark innovation and make progress - beginning with a conversation about climate change and social justice.
